On the set at WTNH

Three of Fairfield’s Bravest recently made an appearance on the popular Firehouse Friday cooking segment on Ct Style on WTNH channel 8 in New Haven.  FF’s Bob Smith and Jon Catandella along with Lt. Pat Barry made the appearance to help support the Connecticut Burn center at Bridgeport Hospital. The Burn center is currently undergoing a 1.5 million dollar renovation and fire fighters from all over Connecticut are raising funds to help with the building of a family suite in the burn center that would allow family members to stay with their loved ones while they receive treatment at the center.

FF Cantandella saw firsthand how important it is to have a nationally recognized burn center right in our own back yard when he received severe burns to his hand and face as a result of a string of arson fires last September in Fairfield. “The folks at the Burn Center took great care of me and the treatment I received helped me recover and get back to work faster. I still have some work to do on my recovery but I can’t imagine how far along I would be without their help.”

While on the show FF Smith and Lt. Barry prepared a pulled pork dish that is a firehouse favorite. “Everyone seemed to love it.”, said Barry after the taping of the show was complete.” It was a great time and the staff at channel 8 was fantastic.”

The Firefighters will hold a pancake dinner fundraiser to help raise more funds for the Burn Center  at Chips restaurant in Fairfield on September 10^th. More information will be posted on our website soon!!!
